Largest candidate-created rally of 2012 presidential campaign set in New Hampshire

Independent Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin has finalized plans for what will become the largest campaign event generated by any presidential candidate in New Hampshire during the 2012 election cycle. Martin will hold a nonpartisan rally Friday, July 29th in Colebrook beginning at 6:00 P.M. to launch his “Operation Walk The Line” march against the Northern Pass high voltage transmission proposal. (COLEBROOK, NH)(July 27, 2011) Republican Presidential candidate Andy Martin will announce later today (Wednesday) the final arrangements for what is expected to become the largest candidate-created event to date of the 2012 presidential primary season in New Hampshire.

“Most Republican presidential candidates show up in their corporate jets, change to woodsy clothing, slip in and out of a few big-donor cocktail parties and private meetings, and fly out again,” Martin chortles. “I am here to speak for the people of New Hampshire, and to make sure their voice is heard in the 2012 primary.

“The arrangements for our rally Friday evening and march Saturday morning are complete. We will be releasing them in a few hours. The largest rally of the 2012 presidential primary campaign in New Hampshire is about to unfold.

“Friday evening we will host a rally in Colebrook to celebrate the start of the ‘Long March’ on Saturday morning. Saturday morning we start marching at 9:00 A.M.

“What’s different about my event is that everyone is welcome. We operate on a nonpartisan basis. As long as you oppose Northern Pass, you’re welcome. New Hampshire’s #1 talk radio personality will be the Master of Ceremonies Friday evening. He’s not there to endorse me. He’s there to support the fight to defeat Northern Pass.

“While people in Washington are fighting each other, I am bringing North Country residents together to rally against Northern Pass.

“My campaign is already running TV ads against Northern Pass and we plan to renew those ads. Next week we begin radio ads against Northern Pass. (The TV ads can be seen on Andy’s home page and YouTube channel; the new radio ads will be loaded shortly.)

“Saturday I begin the ‘Long March’ against Northern Pass. Everyone is welcome to join me. I have no corporate jet to ferry me around the state. I’ll be walking along a scenic New Hampshire highway whose views would be devastated by the Northern Pass line.

“Sunday I will attend church services in Colebrook, and then march some more. I’ll march as long as my legs hold up; then I’ll rest for a few days and come back and start marching again where I left off.

“All weekend we will be making national history and New Hampshire history.

First, this is the first statewide march in New Hampshire history by a presidential candidate of any party.

Second, while there have been group events sponsored by local entities, my campaign is organizing the largest event of the 2012 primary campaign, the largest rally actually organized by a candidate’s own campaign in New Hampshire. I can’t predict how many people will show up; that depends on weather, schedules, etc. But we have the potential to draw the largest crowd in history to oppose the Northern Pass because everyone is welcome and because people have put their heart and soul into fighting the outrageous proposal to slice New Hampshire in half with high voltage lines.

“The reaction to the rally and march has been 100% positive.

“Ironically, some people Friday will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the national forests law. But today our national forests are endangered. Our forests may not survive another 100 years if they are abused and neglected.

“Finally, I emphasize the rally and march are nonpartisan events. Yes, I am a partisan candidate and I am running as a Republican in the 2012 presidential primary. Of course I welcome support from everyone. But everyone is welcome to participate in my events whether they want to support me as a candidate or not.

“America needs a president who reaches out to all segments of our society, not just wealthy or middle/upper class individuals.

“Ronald Reagan created the ‘Reagan Democrats.’ I seriously doubt anyone can imagine ‘Romney Democrats’ or ‘Bachmann Democrats.’ But by the time we vote in February, 2012 there will be ‘Martin Democrats’ who want to join me in binding up the wounds of this nation inflicted by excessive taxation, excessive spending and the insufferable arrogance of the political class. I am not of that class; I am actually indebted to the New Hampshire Republican Party for giving me the opportunity to demonstrate that I am an independent Republican and I, not the state party apparatus, represent New Hampshire’s values of free speech, open debate and independent thought. But even NH GOP stooges are welcome if they want to show up.

“My family came to New Hampshire 100 years ago. They found opportunity and prosperity in New Hampshire. I grew up spending summers at New Hampshire’s lakes and beaches. I played on Elm Street in Manchester. My grandparents are buried in Manchester. The Granite State is in my veins. And, coincidently, I am not running a rabidly partisan campaign like my primary opponents. I want to bring people together not tear them apart.

“Following my path won’t be easy and I am sure to make mistakes along the way. Restoring trust will not be easy. Americans have lost trust and they are losing faith. But we must start somewhere, some day. I am ready. Friday and Saturday we begin. That’s why Friday and Saturday in Colebrook history will be made. Granite Staters of every political background who oppose Northern Pass will be able to march against Northern Pass with a candidate that shares their love for clean air, clean water, a clean environment and the ‘live and let live’ culture of the state,” Martin says. “They can march with someone who is close to them, someone they can trust, not someone who lands in a corporate jet, collects a pile of money, and departs.

“In a few hours we will release the details and locations of our events. Until then, let us stay united in opposition to Northern Pass, and united in opposition to the hyper-partisanship that is undermining our national capital. It’s time to take New Hampshire values to Washington. I am the presidential candidate who can accomplish that goal on primary election day in February, 2012.”

Andy Martin is in Chicago for a few days of rest after being on the presidential campaign trail for several months. He is maintaining an active campaign schedule while in Chicago and will return to New Hampshire during the week of July 25th to begin his “Long March” against Northern Pass on July 29-30.

(COLEBROOK, NH) (CHICAGO)(July 23, 2011) Corruption-fighting Independent Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin will hold a Colebrook, NH/Chicago telephone news conference Saturday, July 23rd to announce the start date for his “Long March” across the State of New Hampshire opposing the planned Northern Pass high voltage transmission system.

Because Andy’s mother was born in New Hampshire and his family’s roots in the Granite state go back 100 years, Andy is effectively New Hampshire’s “Favorite Son” in the 2012 presidential primary.

“I would like to begin this news conference, as I always do any event associated with opposition to Northern Pass, by stating this march is a nonpartisan event and all are welcome: Democrats, independents, Republicans and even non-voters,” Martin will state Saturday. “I am obviously a partisan candidate myself. There is no secret about that. But I am working on a nonpartisan basis with everyone and anyone who wants to join the movement to oppose Northern Pass.

“There is no room for partisanship when we are fighting to preserve New Hampshire’s clean air, clean water and independent way of life. This march sends a message to Washington: in New Hampshire, we can work together on a nonpartisan basis to make public policy.

“Now to the Long March. I am tickled pink to announce this event. It’s exciting. Some people were skeptical we would get under way. I never doubted we would march and march well. When I tell the national nabobs in the media my presidential campaign is the best organized in New Hampshire they pass on the matter. Well, we are organized. My opponents are not. But here’s the proof. We can organize a statewide march. No other presidential campaign can.

“Likewise, I am the only presidential candidate running TV and radio ads against Northern Pass (TV ads began in June; radio ads will start August 1st). Once again, the ability to mount a coordinated, continuous advertising campaign is a sign of good organization.

“Friday evening, July 29th we will come together to celebrate the actual start of the march on Saturday morning. All are we welcome Friday evening to come by and share our excitement.

“We’re making New Hampshire First Primary history. No presidential candidate in history has ever launched a statewide march to highlight opposition to bad policy being imposed on the People of New Hampshire by powerful out-of-state interests.

“Most of my presidential campaign opponents fly in, meet with fat cats at private receptions, and fly out. As New Hampshire’s Favorite Son, I have a special duty to stand up for New Hampshire. “The march will continue in two-day segments along state highways as close to the proposed Northern Pass route as practical. We’ll try to march for two days every other week until we make it to Manchester. Our plan is to march on Saturdays and Sundays to allow maximum opportunity for working families to participate.

“There have been questions raised about whether people can use bikes. Yes. No one will be left alone, and no one will be left behind, but we will accommodate bikers as well as walkers. I’ll also bring a bike along just in case.

“So here’s the wrap-up: a gala celebration Friday evening July 29th to mark the start of the march, emcee’d by New Hampshire’s #1 talk radio personality. The actual start of the march in Pittsburg Saturday morning July 30th. More marching on Sunday July 31st. And a news conference in Concord August 1st to report to the People of New Hampshire on phase one of Operation Walk The Line [against Northern Pass].

Re: Exciting news about my opposition to Northern Pass

Dear Opponent of Northern Pass:[1]

I would like to give you advance notice of an important date in the presidential campaign tomorrow. I am going to announce my statewide march across New Hampshire in opposition to the Northern Pass.

Of course all of the Republican presidential candidates “in theory” say they are for “property rights” and against abuses of eminent domain. But I am the only presidential candidate who is putting rubber to the road in New Hampshire by actually standing up and marching against Northern Pass. We have had anti-Northern Pass TV ads on WMUR-TV in New Hampshire since June (see our web site to view the ad).

Northern Pass is an attempt by Hydro Quebec to treat New Hampshire as an energy colony and conduit. NP would cut New Hampshire in half and add dozens of miles of new high voltage transmission towers. Fried eggs, anyone?

Tomorrow we make the historic presidential campaign announcement in Chicago. I came home for a couple of days of r&r before we start the march, and also because my doctor asked me to stop by for a check-up. I’m good to go.

Generally speaking, none of the Republican presidential candidates are bad people. But I am the only candidate with the guts to stand up against an outrageous imposition on the people of New Hampshire.

I am the only candidate who has a history of exposing two-faced Obama. Obama, by the way, is on both sides of the Northern Pass controversy (surprised?). His policy is against it, but his politicians support it.

No, I am not the media’s favorite. They don’t want to nominate a tough Chicago bruiser who will really battle Obama for the survival of this nation and the 50 (not 57) states. The media want an effete Republican to face Obama in 2012 (take your choice from a wide selection).

This I know: it’s going to be hot, real hot on the highways of New Hampshire as I march against Northern Pass. And I aim to make it even hotter for my opponents. If you live in New Hampshire, or are close enough to join us, by all means do so. The announcement tomorrow will carry details how you can link up. And bring your walking shoes or bike (we’ll use both).

July 30, 2011: one Republican presidential candidate not only talks the talk, he walks the walk. The first statewide march in New Hampshire presidential primary history.

(Exeter, NH)(July 16, 2011) Corruption-fighting Independent Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin will hold a news conference Saturday at his booth at the American Independence Festival in Exeter to draw attention to how the proposed Northern Pass high voltage transmission system would impact southern New Hampshire. The Northern Pass proposal would end at Epping, near Exeter.

“If someone was going to cut me in half, I’d like to know about it,” Martin will state. “Yet the people of southern New Hampshire are oblivious to the fact Northern Pass would end in Epping, near Exeter and cut the state in half with high voltage towers double the height of many existing lines.

“Northern Pass is not just a problem for people ‘up there’ in the North Woods. Northern Pass has a direct impact ‘down here.’ But you would never know that from the gauzy ads being run by Northern Pass to drug the people into lethargy about the project.”

Martin was one of the nation’s first environmental litigation experts. He has filed opposition to the Northern Pass with the U. S. Department of Energy. Martin’s presidential campaign is already running ads on WMUR-TV opposing Northern Pass, and radio ads against Northern Pass will begin in August.

Beginning in a few weeks, Marin will begin a statewide “Long March” against Northern Pass starting north of Colebrook. The march has been named “Operation Walk The Line.” Martin plans to walk cross the state to dramatize the negative impact of Northern Pass transmission line on property values, tourism and environmental quality across the state.
