Statewide protest march against Northern Pass takes shape in New Hampshire

Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin's campaign team lends its organizational experience to staging a statewide protest march against the Northern Pass transmission line project in New Hampshire. The “Long March” protest now has a formal name: "Operation Walk The Line."

Dear Opponent of the

Northern Pass transmission line:

The Long March against the Northern Pass has a new name: “Operation Walk The Line.” For this we are thankful to one of our creative North County contributors.

Here is our initial progress report on the Long March/Operation Walk The Line.

1. This is a nonpartisan project

We always begin with the reminder that Operation Walk The Line is nonpartisan. I am, of course, a partisan candidate in the 2012 presidential primary. No secret there. But all are welcome on our march to oppose Northern Pass. Republicans, Democrats, Independents, non-voters, are all welcome to join us.

2. This is a locally planned project

While my presidential campaign supporters independently created the Long March against Northern Pass concept (others also had the idea of a march), the planning for Operation Walk The Line is being done locally. So everyone is welcome to contribute. We have an initial “Check List/Punch List” of steps to launch the march; if you want a copy please ask.

3. Television advertising and finances

My presidential campaign has contracted to run our anti-Northern Pass spot on TV through the end of July. We hope to add a little more advertising to the schedule if the budget permits. My campaign is responsible for the only anti-Northern Pass advertising which is airing on TV. You can see the ad on my campaign web site as well as our YouTube channel (links above).

We have two new anti-Northern Pass ads on the drawing board, and they await financing to proceed. If you know anyone who would like to contribute to get these new ads produced and on the air, please let us know. We keep separate books for Northern Pass, so all money donated to oppose Northern Pass goes into opposing Northern Pass (unlike other presidential candidates I do not have a corporate jet, or a posse of advisers to accompany me; we operate on a New Hampshire-style budget, lean).

We need approximately $1,500 to produce the two new spots, and then money to actually air the ads. If money comes in, it will go out for this purpose. Feel free to contact me directly if you know someone who wants to contribute.

4. What are you waiting for?

We can’t succeed in blocking Northern Pass without your support. If you have time or shoe leather, join us on the march and help organize the stages of the protest. If you know someone who has money to contribute, please shake the money tree. If you have ideas, please contribute them. We want this march to be a success, and I would like my efforts to Stop Northern Pass to help you succeed in that goal.

As always, if you have questions, suggestions, reactions or whatever, please get in touch.

We will be putting on an anti-Northern Pass program in Keene this Friday evening (July 8th) as well as other Northern Pass activity on Saturday and Sunday. Updates will come in a day or two. You are welcome and warmly invited to join us this weekend.

With best wishes,

ANDY MARTIN
